mesudiye

Datça and Mesudiye area:

Welcome to the village of Mesudiye on the Datça peninsula, Turkey.

Far away from the pollution and the stress of the city, Mesudiye is still preserved from massive tourism.
Not a long time ago, you could reach Mesudiye only by boat or with your donkey!!
The road between Datça and Mesudiye had been tarred in the 90's, electricity came only in the 80's, we have tap water from the village since 2005 !!
However now days, Mesudiye is very popular, not only for its beauty, not only for its atmosphere rich in oxygene, not only for its sandy beaches and coves, but also for investors...
Since the last few years we saw the village changing, nice villas are growing, lots of land are on sale, we have new neighbourgs from England, holland, Germany, Belgium,etc...
Lots of people compare Mesudiye as Saint Tropez, it might be true, if constructions are going like that, it will be for sure a little St Tropez!!

Meanwhile, Mesudiye has strong regulations for building, it is not possible to built everything!!

All our family is from Mesudiye, the man you see on that picture is one of our uncle, most of them still live from their own olives, almonds, honey, and vegetables, if we visit our aunty, we have to drink her ayran, (fresh yoghurt with water and salt), and eat her bread!!, for those who never drink fresh milk from the cow it is a real experience!!
Everything is totaly bio organic in Mesudiye, I am sure you never eat tomatoes like that!!, I am a french man , I love food, I love good food, and I really rediscover the taste of real food there, I wasn't fan of olives but in mesudiye I love them!!

Just go in Datça a saturday morning, there is the market, buy some peppers, cucumbers, figues, melon or watermelon, local cheese, honey, fresh butter, village bread, and your breakfast is ready, make some turkish tea and enjoy :)

Spending your holidays in Datça, means beeing in a quiet environement, taking a good breath, enjoying the weather, the sea, discovering unspoiled beaches, having a taste of local gastronomy, and having an unforgetable experience!
